Why We Give
We live generously
Jesus knew how much we would struggle in the area of our finances. We think it all belongs to us. The reality is everything in the world including those of us who dwell here belongs to the Lord (Psalm 24:1). Why do we tithe? The Word of God helps us understand it is a Lordship issue. Generously giving teaches us to put Christ first in our lives. Each time we tithe, it becomes a reminder that God is in control and meets our every need.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” This is the only place in Scripture where God tells us to put him to the test. In other words, he’s saying, “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me.” – Malachi 3:10
At Gateway Church, we believe in honoring God with our resources, and we recognize two distinct ways to give: Tithes and Kingdom Builders.
Tithes: The First 10%
The tithe is a foundational act of worship and obedience, where we return the first 10% of our income back to God through the local church. It's a biblical principle rooted in trust and gratitude, allowing us to put God first in our finances. Tithes directly support the day-to-day ministry of Gateway—staffing, discipleship, kids and student ministry, worship services, and ongoing operations that make church life possible.
Kingdom Builders: Above and Beyond
Kingdom Builders is our way of going beyond the tithe to fuel global missions, local outreach, and next-generation leadership development. It’s not a replacement for the tithe, but an invitation to step further into generosity. Every Kingdom Builders gift helps us plant churches, support missionaries, resource community partners, fund student scholarships, and expand our impact—locally and around the world.

Kingdom Builders is our way of leading this Great Commission and faithfully spreading the Good News of Jesus to all the ends of the earth.
Kingdom Builders are a group of generous givers who give above and beyond the tithe to a mission's mutual fund of projects that build God's Kingdom.
The Bible tells us that we are blessed to be a blessing. Everything we do today is about building His church around the world. Jesus gave all He had to reach the lost. Kingdom Builders is our way of following His example.
